Laboratory/ Pre-treatment Technician – Summer Internship - Currently Not Accepting Applications

UWe are currently accepting resumes for a Laboratory/ Pretreatment Technician for our summer internship. Learn and become an environmental steward!  Qualified candidates will perform bacteriological and chemical tests and analyses and complete basic analyses in connection with wastewater treatment.  Duties will include collection of wastewater samples, preparing reagents and glassware, use of laboratory instrumentation and entering laboratory results into a database or spreadsheet program as well as assistance with industrial pre-treatment activities.

Applicants must be accepted to college and will attend in coming semester or attending college with an interest in biology or environmental science.  A high school degree required supplemented with college courses or other courses in related area with environmental science emphasis.

 Laborer

Candidates will perform general tasks of a simple or routine nature.   Duties will include performing building maintenance tasks including but not limited to preparing surfaces for refinishing and painting; cleaning building areas, floors, hallways, and restrooms; washing, waxing and polishing floors; washing windows, walls, and woodwork.   Performs grounds maintenance; cuts grass, weeds, and brush; trims bushes and trees; rakes grass, leaves and trash; seeds and cares for lawn and ornamental plantings. Removes snow and ice from walkways, driveways, parking areas and buildings and equipment as needed.  Collects and disposes of trash.  Washes and cleans vehicles, tools, and equipment. Uses Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work and close out preventative maintenance work orders. Must possess a valid MA driver’s license. 

Assistant Senior Wastewater Operator

We are accepting resumes for an Assistant Senior Wastewater Operator on the 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. shift. Candidates will be responsible for operating and maintaining WWTP facility processes and equipment, including belt filter presses, multiple hearth incinerators, and a biological nutrient removal activated sludge system.  Process-control laboratory analysis.  Ability to perform process control laboratory analysis and work with and understand SCADA is necessary.  This position is responsible for checking, operating, inspecting, servicing and cleaning of equipment including regulation of automatic equipment and the like. Ability to carry out emergency procedures; assigning, instructing and supervising operators; and keeping periodic records, operating engines, and auxiliary equipment; operating an automobile or truck as required.  Oversees and performs custodial duties incidental to the work.  The Assistant Senior Operator acts as shift supervisor in the absence of the Senior Operator, performing all responsibilities expected of that position.  Weekend and holiday work is required.  Massachusetts Grade 6 certification necessary.  A valid driver’s license is required.

Wastewater Operator

We are accepting resumes for a Wastewater Operator on the 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. shift. Operators are responsible for safely and reliably operating and maintaining wastewater treatment facility processes and equipment including belt filter presses, multiple hearth incinerators, and a biological nutrient removal activated sludge system.  Ability to perform process control laboratory analysis and work with and understand SCADA is necessary.  Salary based on education level and experience – college level coursework in a related field is desirable.  Holiday and weekend work is required. Must pursue work with energy and drive.  Must have a valid driver’s license.  Excellent potential for growth. A valid driver’s license is required.
